British research into public perceptions of self-driving vehicles (SDVs)

The British Department of Transport published the results of an interesting research into public perceptions of self-driving vehicles (SDVs). The research is presented across 2 reports. The aims of the research were to understand:

  • how to communicate safety information about SDVs effectively

  • how different types of exposure to SDVs can influence awareness and understanding

  • the role citizens see for SDVs in a future transport system

The research used electroencephalography (EEG) to provide real-time insights into people’s experience of SDVs.
